iGulu’s F1 aims to take the fuss out of home brewing — something I’d always avoided because of all the gear, hygiene concerns, and temperature wrangling. This countertop, all-in-one system automates the process: you set it up, fill the keg with water and ingredients (yeast included), tap the recipe tag, and let the F1 take care of temperature control, fermentation, and even dispensing. It maintains ideal brewing temps over the 10-day process, then chills your drink afterwards so it’s ready when you are.
Pairing via the mobile app is smooth, but you quickly realise the front-panel screen already gives you most of the feedback you need, and you can largely leave the device to do its work without micromanaging. Apple cider came out refreshingly well in my tests; pale ale too once I got the malt mixing sorted. The system does limit how much you get per batch compared to big manual setups, and there’s some initial setup effort (hose/tube connectors, figuring out recipes). Also, while there’s some lock-in to iGulu kits, you’re not strictly bound — you can use off-the-shelf ingredients if you tweak the amounts for the smaller volume.
In a nutshell, the F1 delivers on its promise: smart, easy brewing that isn’t intimidating, and produces drinks that are enjoyable. If you like occasional home-brew, cider or beer, this is a compelling way in. If you live in a small space or don’t brew often, its cost and footprint might make it a bit of a stretch — but as a hobby machine, it does very well.
